Day 173 Outfit: I just spent a great evening hanging out with peeps, celebrating my friend Sara’s birthday! She was kind enough to make a guest appearance in my picture:-) Cards Against Humanity was played, wine was drunk, deviled eggs were eaten. Excellent night!
Sweater & Jeans - Gap, Polka Dot Oxford - Old Navy (one of my guilt ridden pieces from my $4.30 order the other night.)
Day 171 Outfit: Theater geek edition! In this photo I am at Avery Hall at Lincoln Center in NYC to see Sweeney Todd. It is a limited 5 performance run starring Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett. I convinced my husband to splurge as a birthday gift to ourselves, and thank goodness I did!!! It was nothing short of spectacular - I grinned ear to ear the whole show.
Besides the awesomeness of Emma Thompson, the surprise performer of the cast was Audra McDonald!!!!! She had been at the top of my Broadway bucket list for ages!!!!!
Then the celebrity spotting was another event in itself. Tip: always go to opening night if u want to see awesome people. First we spotted NPH and his hubby David entering the theater, then Christine Baranski was in front of us on the escalator going upstairs. I really wanted to gush about the Good Wife but I held my tongue. Then Bernadette Peters strolled past us a couple times going to and from her seat. Btw, bitch has not aged since The Jerk. Her skin is still FLAWLESS.
Then word spread in our section that Meryl was there. A hawk eyed young lad sitting next to me managed to find her 5th-ish row center looking as elegant as you would imagine.
During the show Emma Thompson walked right next to us which was awesome - also a gorgeous woman in person. Then during the curtain call the most amazing thing happened. The conductor went into the audience and pulled STEPHEN SONDHEIM up on stage!!! When I realized he was there a mere dozen rows in front of us I actually said like a total fan girl “IT’S STEPHEN FUCKING SONDHEIM!” Seriously it was the most amazing night for this theater geek.
Dress - Calvin Klein, cardi - Old Navy, Leggings - American apparel
Day 170 Outfit: As you can see from my expression, I am not impressed by Tuesday. However I was very happy to find this sweater at the way way back of my shelf! Forgot it existed!!!
Now confession time. I had $50 in Old Navy/Gap rewards from my credit card. Today there was a good sale of 40% off Gap, 35% off Old Navy for cardholders. I needed to unload the rewards because we are closing the card and you can only redeem when using the card (a vicious circle for shopaholics.) So I found a backup dress from Gap for my friend’s wedding JIC the Carolina Herrera doesn’t fit closer to the date, but it didn’t go over the $50 (total has to exceed rewards in order to redeem). So then I found a polka dotted white oxford at Old Navy to take it over the amount. However, unlike the $0.50 jeans, my total was $4.30. With a guilty conscience and my hubby’s blessing I pulled the trigger.
This was my first big cheat on the no shopping year. I am both happy to be getting some new stuff but also disappointed with myself for breaking my self imposed rules. Even though it was just $4.30 it feels like I broke the law or something.
Sweater - Lands End, Chambray top - Stylemint. Jeans - Gap, Necklace - Baublebar
Day 169 Outfit: I went to Zumba right after work and forgot to take my outfit pic before changing. So you guys get to see me post work out in my sweaty clothes!
Btw, I had $10 in Target gift cards and decided to spend it on a liquid foundation, since my mineral powder ones are not sitting well on my combination skin. I got Revlon Color Stay and used it for the first time today. The color is a perfect match and it stayed put even after Zumba! So I have my new drugstore fave! And of course I get home today to find an envelope from Lucky Magazine’s Lucky Ones containing a FULL sized bottle of a brand new Laura Mercier liquid foundation!!! I took a survey and they sent it to me to try out and review. I am super psyched! I’ll let you know how it looks.
Hoodie & Pants - Old Navy, Tshirt - Target, Mockingjay pin - awesome gift from my hubby.
Day 168 Outfit (week 24 Donezo!): Oscars edition! For the first time in a long time I passed out during the telecast. It just ended up being really predictable and rather boring. I liked the Ellen selfie but overall pretty meh. Lupita looked gorgeous, as did J. Law, Charlize, Amy Adams, and a preggers Olivia Wilde. For the men, Kevin Spacey was my best dressed - loved the navy and black tux!
Tshirt - A purchase from UAL in Nola, Jeans - Gap, Sweater - rag & bone for Target
Day 167 Outfit: Spent the day with my mom and her new puppy Petey since it’s her birthday! And I got my haircut (I asked for the Claire Underwood!) And got to chill with my bestie Beana! Good day:-)
Dress - Old Navy, Sweatshirt - Juicy Couture
Day 165 Outfit: Movie night edition! So the hubby and I planner to go see Nebraska, to watch one more best picture nominee before Oscar night on Sunday. Then we changed our minds and decided to go more low brow. LEGO Movie, it is!
Top - Jason Wu for Target, Cardigan - 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, Jeans - Gap, Sneaks - Converse for Target, Pony hair clip - Goody
Day 164 Outfit: 1. It’s freezing, 2. Day 1 of Operation Fit Into My Dress was hit and miss. Hit - Special K and tea for breakfast, Kashi bar for lunch, homemade soup for dinner. Miss - A big glass of wine and more than a handful of leftover Valentines candy. Well, at least I’m running low on both. As long as I don’t replenish I should be ok.
Top - Stylemint, Cardigan & Jeans - Gap
